Tema inédito dos Joy Division

Pictures In My Mind é um tema inédito dos Joy Division (dos anos 1977/78) e estará disponivel no novo EP que Peter Hook irá lançar, juntamente com as novas versões de Atmosphere, Insight e New Dawn Fades. O EP intitula-se 1102/2011 e é lançado a 9 de Maio.

30 anos sem Ian Curtis

Ian Curtis decidiu deixar-nos há 30 anos atrás, em mais um dos seus momentos de descontrolo. 30 anos depois e a música não o esquece, e em 2010 são inúmeras as bandas que continuam a inspirar-se nos sons dos Joy Division. Interpol, Bloc Party, Editors, The National são alguns exemplos de bandas que vão beber à fonte de Ian Curtis, continuando a eternizar o som criado por ele, Peter Hook, Bernard Sumner e Stephen Morris.

Hoje em Manchester há homenagem. Na Factory. Com Peter Hook, baixista dos Joy Division e dos New Order a tocar na integra o álbum Unknown Pleasures.

Apesar de ter sido editada no 1º disco dos New Order (Movement), Ceremony era uma criação dos Joy Division. Surgiu numa (quase imperceptível) versão ao vivo no duplo Still! Os Radiohead (reis nas 2 em 1 do Cantinho) , que sabem o que é bom fizeram uma cover.

O mês do Ian

Faz 17 anos que ele resolveu acabar com tudo e no dia 17 (um dia antes dessa data fatidica) estreia o filme Control, sobre ele e os Joy Division.

Aqui fica uma das primeiras musicas da Joy Division (ainda sob a designação Warsaw) intrepertada pelos New Order* no concerto de homenagem a John Peel.

Ah, a musica intitula-se precisamente Warsaw:



* Para os mais desatentos: A Joy Division era formada por 4 elementos. Depois da morte de Ian Curtis os outros 3 formaram os New Order, onde se mantêm até hoje.
O vocalista Bernard Sumner, o baterista Stephan Morris e o baixista Peter Hook (lado direito da imagem) são esses 3.
